Areas of activity / responsibilities
Partnerships
For example:
* Balam Balam * CoopCloud (Federation- a member would vote on their organisation, would involve some tech and non-technical) * OfflineInternet
Jade aims for Wikipedia running at 3 sites in MerriBek by beginning of Jan: two venues and one hous. * Balam Balam MOU * Catalyst, Neighbourhood houses. * Merribek City Council, e.g. neighbourhood houses such as Sussex House * CoopCloud
Sarah and Jade will handle Partnerships.
Participation
* Member engagement and internal comms * We have a quasi membership base of a few dozen people who we can engage. * Transparency, getting input, engaging people, * Take membership fees * Perhaps post on our group chat after event * Aim is to be inclusive, representative, equitable * We don’t have a Code of Conduct – did mention using the Mozilla Covenant but haven’t gone there * A further stretch would be to look at approaches that involve transformative justice. * Helping people feel engaged and connected to the org
Maggie and Rob will work on the Participation piece, focusing on * Desk research around Code of Conduct (Rob) * Look at CoopCloud coop model * Comms to others (Maggie) At some point we should consider how we relate to our position on stolen land, e.g. reach out to Wurundjeri Council. We can maybe able to offer something in terms of tech for digital sovereignty
Events
* SolarPunk meetups - scheduling finding speakers * Consider liability insurance * Consider ongoing events schedule, what’s viable * Consider future volunteer training or launch
* Rob will put hand up for Events, Simon agrees too * plan a sequence of six events to the middle of the year * consider a bit more structure about the events
Grants and Comms not part of the list at this point.
Deploying 3 R Pis
Jade’s aim by beginning of 2026: 3 R Pis running Wikipedia at 3 sites * Server at Balam Balam needs to be finalised and installed - Jade * Partnership and MOU need to be stewarded - Sarah * MOU – what we are going to install, arrangements for access, offer some understandings of how we will use this o e.g in accordance with the law * Suggest limited run PoC for e.g. 6 months, revisit the agreement in 6 months. * Additional locations – non-Council? Sussex House as a location? 2 people’s homes.
Reading suggestions
* “How to fall in love with the future”
